Local Didcot Businesses Lend Their Support

Didcot Chamber of Commerce hosted an event at Didcot Civic Hall on Tuesday 15th March, dedicated to local businesses in the area.

Attendees heard more about The Didcot Powerhouse Fund as well as testimonies from people aided by support groups in Didcot including Didcot Baby Monday and SOFEA. Organisations like these are often lifelines for local people and the Powerhouse Fund wants to be able to help them, both financially through grant-giving, but also in practical ways such as recruiting more volunteers, matching skills to needs.

Guests also heard from Philip Campbell, Commercial Director of MEPC Milton Park and Robert Jones of William Jones Estate Agents that sponsored the event, explaining why they felt it was important for businesses to engage with the Fund and why they had wanted to get involved in the initiative.

Mike Foster, Director of The Entrepreneurs Mentor conducted a table top exercise to encourage businesses to suggest fundraising ideas as well as how to create a stronger business network in Didcot, to build a more resilient community. The Didcot Chamber and Didcot Powerhouse Fund will look at the output to see how these ideas can be taken forward.

The event closed with Robert Jones drawing a lucky winner from a hat, for the hamper prize draw.
